I  am pregnant and I gained 48.5 pounds in six months.  I recently went back to 1350 cals and scale is not going back down.  Why can't I lose?  Is it possible to lose after going back to my original caloric intake while pregnant?

Answer

Do not try to lose weight while you are pregnant.  Your baby and you need the nutrients in food. Instead, try to stabilize at your present weight.  Use the Calorie Target calculator to find the calories you need to maintain your ideal pre-pregnancy weight at a light activity level, and then add 300 calories a day for pregnancy.  Eat a balanced diet as described at My Pyramid for Pregnancy and engage in regular light activity like walking or leisurely biking on most days of the week.
