Or if you don't celebrate, lose 30 pounds by December 25th.
I'm starting a weight loss club for people who wanna lose 30 pounds to look good around the holidays. It's a time of year when you're around family much more often, and see many people that only come around once a year. Wouldn't it be great to shock them this year with your new body?
We will have weekly weigh-ins to keep track of everyone's progress. And with everyone's support and encouragement in this group from their peers, we should all feel more motivated to reach our goals.
When joining this group, please post a little bit about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses and your expectations, so we can all get to know each other a little better.
WHO'S WITH ME? :)
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Games & Challenges forum. Sent messages to OP, thanks.
I am with you!!!
I am a 36yr old married mom. I have struggled with my weight for what seems like my whole life. I have a great support system in my family( my wonderful husband and 2 beautiful teenage daughters). I am a self-sabotager (I just learned this....). I want/need to lose a minimum of 64 lbs ( I have lost 23 lbs so far). So if I can get 30 lbs off by Christmas I will almost be there!!!!

I'm totally with you!!
I'm 33, married, and a happy sort. I work full-time, and go to university part-time. I'm super tired of bouncing back to the weight I'm at right now (162lbs). I self-sabotage too!! Last summer I got down to 142lbs, so I know I can do it. I just have to know that losing weight does not make it okay to go back to eating fatty foods.
I love to exercise, and I love to cook, now I need to make sure my "outs" are higher than my "ins." I like to feel healthy, just need to work on being consistent.
I'm ready to work hard and work it all off with you this year!!!
Ren :D

I'm 25 years old and have been battling these 30 pounds for the last three years. I originally lost 20lbs and then just kind of stayed there.
What day of the week should we have our weigh-in's?
CW: 173 - just gained 7lbs on holiday, crap!
GW: 135
By Christmas: 143, crossing my fingers!
How about Sunday as a weigh in day? Pros - keeps you on track over the weekend, cons - it's the end of the weekend..
I am around 193 and I am really only looking to get around 160 because I will then fit back into all the clothes I have in my closet. I am 32 and 5'7 and have had problems with my weight since after having my first child (he will be 10 in october...argh) I am not sure I have any strengths other than I can be motivational to other people. I have a weakness for chocolate especially brownies!! And potatoes are a huge downfall for me. I always crave them.
Good Luck to Everyone.
Eat hearty, for tonight... we dine... ON SALAD!!!
lolwut
So yea, I'm an odd body type because it seems like I crave food less when I do more strenuous physical activity. Sometimes I think I should have been a soldier, because as long as I am physically active and doing something the requires my body being sore, I don't even think about or desire to eat.
So, like, when Christmas is over, we're still going to keep the weight off right? You're not just saying we want to look good for the holidays, but AFTER the holidays too. You don't want to send out the wrong impression, that we only want to look good for our relatives.
Oh man, thanksgiving is coming isn't it? Dude... since I work in a deli, I pretty much stare at sliced turkey all day and wish I could just spin around like the Tazmanian Devil and eat that stuff all up. But I'm better than that. I'm a real person and the Tazmanian Devil is a cartoon character.
YEAH. THIS. IS. SPARTA!
Count me in! That was already my goal and it would be great to have the company. I just got engaged and we were thinking of going to the Carribean in January for a wedding/moon. With 30 pounds gone, I think I would enjoy myself much more.
Ok, so I'm 31, 5' 7 and currently 165. Lately, I've been using the elliptical for 30-60 minutes almost every day. Ever since I started dating my fiance, we went out to eat and drink beer too often. Now, I'm trying to cut back on all of that. So, what day are we checking in?....I saw someone say Sunday.
I am so in!
I'm a 26 year old mom of 3 girls. 2.5 year old twins and a 6 years old. I would love to be 30 pounds less by christmas. I can't wait to see the look on their faces lol in fact last time they saw me I was 273, I am now 236 :)
what day should we all weigh in on? my weigh in day is sunday.

Sounds Great!!
I am 29 years old and have gained about 65 lbs in the past several years. My weakness is chips!! I could eat them everyday and nothing else.... My strength is that I have a very supportative boyfriend who tries to help me stay on track. I'm new to this so I'm not sure how to keep in contact yet.

Hi everyone,
I am brand new to this site, but not brand new to dieting (oops, I mean lifestyle change). Anyway, after an unsuccessful bout with Weight Watchers ( I know how to cheat) I found this wonderful website. What I like about it is - it is so simple. We all know WHAT we should be eating....but the whole fiber/points thing got a little involved for me. I like just simply counting calories. I will definitely try to eat "healthier" but bottom line number is just better for me.
I am 48, mother of four girls, ages 7 - 11. I am a walker, but am going to join our local Y to get more involved in weights and other activiites. I'm going to try to exercise every day (OK - maybe 5 times per week) because I think that's the most important thing for my health. I weigh (gulp) 175....should be around 155 - am 5' 8". At my age if I don't take it off and get better about what I eat, then 20 more pounds will just pack themselves on in a few years. My metabolism is slower than it used to be....but I am determined to feel and look healthier.
Glad to join this group. It seems like we have a mix of ages and lifestyles. That is GREAT!
Denise
Count me in! I'm almost 23, a full-time college student (this semester, anyway), and working part-time. If you looked at me 4 years ago, you would have seen one of the leanest, strongest, most obsessive health nuts you knew, but the past few years have yielded a very different me--now pushing 180 (I'm 5'7"), and struggling to maintain discipline in both eating and exercising. My strengths, I would say, are that I live with my very lean and active family, and have a closet full of clothes I would love to wear again. My weaknesses are several years of bad habits and "failed" attempts at weight loss, plus working across from a doughnut shop. Oh, yeah, and living with my very lean and active family members who can eat anything they want. :)
I hope to be 149 by Christmas. That would be AMAZING.
I just need a change….
I have always been overweight. 3 years ago I got fired from my job and started going to the gym to keep myself from shopping my unemployment away while I attended school. I have a history of depression and an addictive personality (note the name). Flash forward 2.5 years and I lost 100lbs.
Starting: 265lbs.
Best: 165lbs.
At 5’11” with a tall wide frame…that’s pretty good.
Current:195
What happened?!?!? Depression happened. Again. Stress triggers via an ultimately drastic, albeit positive, change in life situation sent me reeling. After a year of therapy and anti-depressants, I’ve picked up a few compulsive behaviors I am having a hard time overcoming. A very hard time.
I don’t want to call it bulimia. But it looks a lot like it. 30 lbs would be awesome to loose. But more than anything, I just need some sort of motivation. Some sort of…comradery. Some sort of something.
i'm in i'm in! i'm 20 years old and also a full-time college student. i'm 5'1" and currently weigh around 127. my goal is around 105 so i don't have to lose the full 30. i definitely need some support cause i tend to slack off. oh another obstacle, i live in a sorority house, so our chef always makes us meals and i have no idea the amounts/calories of everything. but so far its going well. my birthday is december 28 so it would be AWESOME to be at my goal weight by then. NOW LETS GET SKINNY!
I'm in!
I'm 20 years old and a full-time nursing student. I also work part-time as a CNA in a local hospital. I'm about 5'4" and about 155 pounds. 2 years ago i lost about 20 pounds and have pretty much stayed at my current weight since then. However i feel as though i still have a few more pounds to lose to be at a healthy weight. I'd like to be about 125 lbs.
Some of my strengths are that I'm a great listener and have a great sense of humor. Some of my weaknesses are that i tend to lose motivation pretty easily and i tend to eat while i study (which is a lot.... haha)
One thing i'd really like to talk about is eating healthy on a budget. Everyone knows college kids have no money! Haha!
I'm excited!! Let's get started!!
I am definitely in!!! I am 20 years old and I had my first child this past January. I gained 55lbs when i was pregnant and i just can not get rid of these last 30. I just recently found this site and I'm really excited about it! I just got serious about losing the weight in the last two weeks, I work out on my elliptical for an hour every day and I have dramatically changed my diet to put me in a healthier category, I strictly watch my calories but my problem is since I am home all day long with my daughter and 3 other children close in age I feel as though I have nothing better to do but eat. The support would be amazing my husband is in the Air force and he isn't home often, we moved far away from home so my support system is pretty scarce. I'm so thankful for finding this site and this group........and for the Tasmanian devil who wants to eat all of the turkey, control yourself if you wanna be a cartoon character so bad try Popeye he's a much better role model (but i understand wanting to be taz, who doesn't want to spin like that?) I've lost 2lbs before starting this site and I'm hoping it will go a lot faster!
I would like to join...but only want to lose 15 pounds, if thats okay.
SW:130

First goal: Have 5 straight days of no binging and my cal limit will be 1300!!
I wanna join too!
I'm 16, 5 foot 3, and 137 pounds. I want to be about 120 ish, so is 17 - 19 pounds okay?
We can do it!!
I know if I can, you DEFINATELY can.
Count me in 2!
I am a 25 year old woman. I've been wanting to be 150lbs since I graduated college in 2004. This is a great motivator.

Well 30 pounds is not my goal but it wouldn't hurt to try. So count me in.
5' 3"
F: 24 as of yesterday!
S/W: 164
C/W: 149
G: 119
I look forward to the motivation and weight loss!
Wow- I just updated my profile to lose 30 pounds by December 22 (last day of school for me... so I'll finally get to go home and see my family. I haven't been home since spring break, and I'd love to look my best!)
In other words, its my goal anyway, let's get started!
SW: 170? (TTOM-ish and not an early morning weight, so the first few should be easy! ;-))
GW: 140!
I am a full time engineering student, and swim on the university team on top of that. I really need to cut back a bit and eat healthier things, not only for my self-image but also for my performance. I have gained about 20 pounds since my freshman year. I was last at 140 in high school, but I haven't grown since then, so I think its doable.
