Well, I'm on my first official day... and I'm hungry! My target is 1350 calories a day. So far with what I've had and what I'm going to have for dinner, I'll be at 1454. So 100 calories over. Which isn't too bad... but it's only 2:30 in the afternoon!
I know from previous experience that eventually my body will adapt to eating less... but I forgot how difficult it is until then! I've been drinking water like crazy but it's not helping (I love the line from one of Ron White's comedy skits, "if I drink water I'm less thirsty")
It doesn't help that I work from home a couple days a week and food is so easy to get to. When I'm in the office it seems easier because I pack my food and I'm usually too busy to go out for anything, so once I eat what I brought then I'm done!
Other than drinking water... anyone have any tricks to distract yourself to get over a hungry moment... or in my case, a hungry few hours?
Hang on! I usually drink tea, chew gum, or have low-calorie hard candy. You could also eat celery. Or burn some more calories through exercice and eat more. :)
Thanks! Silly me, forgot about the exercise thing... I'll be doing the treadmill later this evening, so will make sure I stay on there long enough to burn my overage.
You can try eating foods with more fiber (broccoli, beans, etc) so that way you'll be full for a longer period of time.
It's my first day today! I am trying to stick to my calorie allowance and it is SO HARD, especially because I have binging tendencies. Also, I only go to school 3 days a week.. the rest of the time I'm in my room studying and have very easy access to food. I like the idea about hard candies, and it has helped me in the past. Last night I made a little box filled with sugar free mint life savers and called them "Amazing Binge Preventors". You can check out a picture on my profile, and you might want to make some too!
