Okay, so here's my situation:
I work in a landscaping yard, so with all the physical work I'm doing I've calculated that I burn approximately 2700-2800 calories a day. Now, before I calculated this, I was only eating 1400 calories a day, not realizing how much I was really burning... but now I've upped my calories on workdays to 1800(thank goodness!).
Now, for days that I don't work, I burn 2100 calories a day (with excersize) with an intake of 1400... is the huge difference between my two defecits going to hurt my weight loss in any way? Is jumping from 1400 calories to 1800 and back again not good?
Thanks!!
From anything I've heard, the variation will keep your weight-loss going. Apparently the body adjusts and gets used to how things are, so if you're switching it up, your body will keep guessing.
So in other words, it's probably fantastic!
Great question! I was wondering something along the same lines. I take in 1200 calories a day, and workout on my treadmill walking for 3 hours a day. It was estimated that I burn 3400 calories a day..so I too am not sure if I am eating enough or if this is not good? My doctor is aware of my exercise activity and is the one that recommended 1200 to 1500 calories a day. He stated that for now it was ok to keep at it at that level as I had some weight to burn.

The maximun deficit you should ever have is 1000 calories! If you are burning 3400 calories, you should be consuming AT LEAST 2400 calories each day. You are definently not eating enough! You may be losing weight this way right now, but this will soon stop because you are essentially starving yourself. Never aim for more than a 1000 cal deficit. Most people actually recommend a defict of 700-800 for steady weight loss.

As for your question, I agree with the first response. As long as you consume enough when your doing yard work and dont have a deficit of more than 1000 cals, mixing the amount you burn and the calories you consume should actually speed up your weight loss.
