I count Weight Watchers points. Should I be concerned about calories?
Asked by rtonoff on Oct 14, 2008 in Weight Loss

At Weight Watchers, I have 18 points a day, but the calories don't add up to 1300 - 1500. They are less. I am not losing weight on Weight Watchers.... Should I be more concerned about the calories? Maybe I am not eating enough.

Answer

Weight Watchers points are based on the fat, fiber and calorie content of a food. The points do not translate exactly into calories. To accurately count points or calories, measure your food portions. By underestimating your portions, you can underestimate your points or calories and fail to lose weight. If you are counting points, you need not count calories and vice versa, but you can still use the tools and community features on Calorie Count. Use the weight tracker to follow your true weight change over time. The trend line (green line) smooths out day-to-day fluctuations.
