When is the best time to weigh oneself?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm on 1200 calories daily -- can tell by my clothes that I'm losing a bit -- but don't own a scale.  After reading these threads, I'm thinking I should get one - or at least weigh myself at the grocery store (they have a huge one at the entrance -- go figure) but wonder if anyone has tips on best time, frequency to weigh.  I DON'T want to weigh myself several times a day or even daily.

 Thanks for your help.

The most important thing is to weigh in the same time of day whenever you weigh yourself. Also if you don't do it in the buff (grocery store might complain) then make sure you wear either the same outfit when you weigh in or a similar weight outfit.

Me I weigh in everyday in the buff, first thing in the morning, after the morning bathroom break.

I've always heard first thing in the morning. The most important thing is to be consistent - always use the same scale. I go to my local Bed, Bath and Beyond and always use the same display scale - because I know it wouldn't be healthy to own my own. =)
I agree with the other postings- same time of day, similiar clothing, using the same scale.   I also weigh in the mornings, after going potty, and just before getting in the shower (in the buff).

Well here's one for some one to answer.  When I was initially weighed it was at my doctor's office.   She  said that I was 20lbs over weight.  So that's the beginning weight that I've started with.  I work as a Certified Nurse's Aide at a nursing home and used their scale to weigh myself and it says one weight but I just recently joined the local YMCA and used their scale and it read different.  Should I continue to use the work scale that we use to weight wheel chairs with or should I use the Y's?
I am also a morning, naked, after pee break, weigher...  As to the  choosing between the two scales. I say go with the Y's. Not that the one at your work isn't as accurate. Since the Y is for health, they are more likely to have better scales.
