Anyone in their late 20s?!

I'm a dieting veteran.... up and down the same 20lbs since highschool! I've always lost it on Weight Watchers...but I wanted to try something new. So, here I am. I'm looking to start a group of late 20- early 30 year olds who are interested in losing weight and getting healthy. I'm 5' 9" 160lbs.  I'm looking for others that have about 20-30lbs to lose.  Hopefully there's some people out there!!

Happy New Year!

hello, megain44. i am in my late 20's, and my goal this year is to maintain my current weight and learn to eat healthier. i'm 5'4'' and around 120lbs. i've done weight watchers, too, and i boomeranged just like you. the only thing that has worked for me was running. i lost about 35 lbs very slowly - over about a year. but the daily running has kept it off so far.

not sure if i should be in your group, because i'm not looking to lose, but wanted to wish you the best just the same.

good luck!

What's up??  :)   I'm Sarah, I'll be 28 in about two weeks.  I wish I could say the same about gaining and losing the same 20 pounds over and over again... 45 lbs have snuck up on me since college, and up until this past October, I have never really seriously dieted.   I found this website, started logging in most of what I eat, trying to stay under about 1600-1700 calories a day.  I've lost 15 lbs in three months, which is awesome, but I still have about 30 lbs to go.

Megain or duskrunner, are you exercising at all?  (I'm not!)  Undecided

This seems like the group for me.  I am 29, 5'5" and 145 lbs.  I want to be 130 by my 30th.  I haven't dieted much, just the South Beach four years ago when I wanted to shed a few pounds before getting pregnant.  I have had two girls in the last 3 years, both by c-section, so my exercise routine has suffered.  I have lost 29 lbs slowly over the last 18 mths, but want to shed that last 15 by July.

I think we should have weekly weigh-ins and post the results, a lot of other groups are doing that.   Or we could log our calories/activity daily, whatever works for all.

Lets do it!

Hi, I just found this site about a week ago.  I've been pretty good at logging my calories so far.  I'm 28, 5'2" and about 143 pounds.  My goal is 130 (maybe lower depending on how it goes).  I used to work out pretty intense but just had a baby a couple of months ago.  Hoping to get back to the gym soon!!  This sounds like a good group to join.  I think either logging weight or logging calories/activities would be a good idea.
Hey megain44 I am 27. I am working on losing my last 10lb and then it will be maintaining and toning for me. I have lost just over 30lbs around and trying to get the last bit gone.

sarah- i've had a hard time through december. i've been sick (recovering from a 'bug' just this week) and so busy. i've probably averaged running twice a week throughout the last month. by the grace of god i maintained my weight through the holidays, but i am eager to get back on track. i usually run a few miles a day.

congrats on losing the 15 pounds! don't brush that off, it's a great accomplishment, and it's a third of what you want to lose. stay with it!

i think if you find time to exercise regularly, you'll start to see a difference. when i started running, it took about 2 months for me to see any real differences on the scale (i didn't change my eating habits that much at first), but i saw the difference in how my clothes fit me and how i felt. that was enough to keep me going.

waddope--

i agree, we should do weekly weigh-ins. and we can post tips, recipes...whatever!

i wish i could say that i just had a baby and thats why i put on this extra weight!! no babies for me yet, i just deliver them :)

Yay!  I've found a group that I fit into.

I'm 28, 5'7" and 163 pounds.  I am looking to lose 30 pounds or so.  I'm upset with myself, because I actually joined CC a year ago at 155 pounds.  Obviously, I didn't stick with it.  At one point, I did get down to 150, but gained it all back, plus some.  And I gained an extra 5 over the holidays.  I'm trying to keep myself at 1300-1400 calories.  I do go to a gym and I love going, but it's been difficult to find time.  I want to make it a priority, though.  My goal is to hit the gym 4-5 days a week.  I also have exercise bands and tapes at home, so that I can fit in a little exercise at home on those really busy days.

My initial plan of attack is to severely cut the amount of alcohol I consume.  I am generally a fairly heavy drinker and I know that is the reason why I've put on all this weight.  So, I've decided to abstain for awhile to jump start my weight loss.

I look forward to participating in this group.  Weekly weigh-ins would be great.

Hey guys I'll be 28 on the 28th of this month. I am 5'6 and 183lbs. I, like Leigh Ann, joined this site last year and was ten pounds lighter. I was doing great last year and sticking with a plan. I don't know why I stopped but it was around summer. Maybe all the BBQ's and drinking. I do drink often. I guess that happens when you work in a bar. Well I am cutting that out and logging my cals again so we'll see. Hopefully we can all motivate each other.

What day does everyone want to weigh in?

I'll check in later I have to go to work now. Grrr.
Hey guys, I just realized that I typed 28 in my post, but I'm actually 27.  Typo, I guess.  Anyways...Laurie Ellen, it sounds like we have a bit in common.  Anybody else looking to cut down on their drinking?

Let's start with a weigh-in tomorrow and post it.  Then we can update every Sunday.  For those of us trying to cut down on drinking (not me-  I need to start that back up!  Kids are way too stressful :) ) it will motivate you not to drink too much on Saturday or you'll ruin the weigh-in.

 What does everyone think?

Hey, can I join too?  I'm 26, and I'm new to the dieting scene.  My weight has fluctuated a bit over the past 8 years at college, mostly because my activity level was high when I was working between semesters, or at field schools, and very low when I was studying or writing papers.

I'm 5' 10" and right now, I'm tipping the scales at 175 lbs, and I'm hoping to get down to 150 lbs by the end of summer.  So far, I've found that keeping a food log is helping me tremendously by making me aware of how many mindless calories I'm consuming.  I'm also trying to cut back on the drinking, as too many seasonal parties have left me feeling bloated.

I'd be cool with weekly weigh-ins, but no more frequently than that.  I find I get discouraged if I weigh myself any more often.

Alright ladies, here we go!  My weigh-in was 143.8, down 3.2 since Tuesday!  Feeling good, but trying to keep the goal in mind.  13.8 to go.  Alright, off to bundle up the kids and head to the zoo, it's actually above 40 for once!  Hopefully chasing them around will count as my exercise today.

I am weighing in today at 163. Waddope, how did you manage to lose three pounds in under a week?  That's fabulous.  Yesterday, I worked my butt off at the gym and felt great.  Ready to go back today!
I am 34, so am a little older than you are interested in, but I came on here and lost 20-30 lbs since I joined, just by calorie counting and educating myself on the forums. I would be happy to help in any way and give you support! Good luck, you can do it!
Hey I just got batteries for my dead scale and I am weighing in at 186 :( Oh well. Next week will be better!!
Hi all, I am 28. Good to see so many of us here in one place! I like this thread. I am looking to lose 15 pounds, my weight would be classified as healthy, but with race season coming up, I want to be fast!
Hello everyone.  I think I am going to like this group!

  1. I'm 28, 5'2", curvy as all heck (love it), 155 lbs, African-American (yes that is important b/c diff cultures have VERY diff views of fat vs. skinny).
  2. Could stand to not drink so much.
  3. Danced all my life (18+ years) and and a perfect body-34C-24-36.  Went to college, quit dancing, got "softer" and am 36D loving that! - 31 - 44 BOOTYLICIOUS!!!!!.
  4. HATE excersing now but am trying to get back into the swing.
  5. Right now i am healing from a nasty sprain so I need MORE motivation.
  6. I love my curves (even though i think i am too soft - I have gotten so many compliments from the boys!) so I only want to lose about 30 pounds although that may be too much.
  7. 10 yr HS reunion is in 8 months!!!  YIKES!!!
Hi, I'm Tiffany, 28.  Over the last 5 years I have dieted and lost 52 pounds.  Trying to maintain at what I'm at now and the scale will go up and down a couple pounds.  Just found this website yesterday and love it so far!  I'm 5'1 and try to stay at 110 but was 111-112 this week.  I have 2 kids.  Before I was pg with my 6 year old I was 151lbs.  I met my hubby who is Portuguese and I just LOVED h is mom's cooking!  I met my hubby at 133 back in 1998!  Anyway my son was almost 1 when I got a comment from a patient who asked me when I was due and that I looked 'close'.  So I went on nutrisystem and then learned to eat helthy after 2 months of that.  2005 I had my baby girl and all the weight came off when she was 4 months old.  I"ve been maintaining for awhile now but to me, that is just as hard as dieting.  I can put weight on very easily.  Trying to keep up with the exercise as well!  AS if chasing a 2 year old and 6 year old isn't exercise enough! LOL!  Looking forward to seeing how this thread goes and best wishes for success for everyone!  You're already a huge motivation to me!
